We open today with a quote from Groucho Marx:
Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
It's the time of year where students all over the US are gearing up for college, and the smell of new textbooks permeates the air. Soon it will be all about all-nighters, scantron tests, essay exams and lots of reading. The lucky students studying geography will be looking over their field trip options. To quote Linda Ellerbee, "And so it goes."
The Royals are playing up a storm; they swept the White Sox, they have a six game winning streak, and they are playing 500 ball. Not so with the Houston Astros, who are at the bottom of MLB standings.
That's about it for today, short and hopefully sweet. Until next time then.

Well sports fans, today is the day for Kate and Williams baby boy to be born. I say it will be a boy, and the whole of England will be hitting the pubs. Meanwhile, across The Channel in France, an English rider is winning the Tour de France after 20 stages. Go Britain.
The Houston Astros have plummited to the worst spot in professional baseball. All of their fans, me included, suffer in silence, as we are subjected to new ways a baseball team can loose a game. Maybe they should bring back the pajama uniforms-at least they made the playoffs. The White Sox broke our hearts in the World Series, with a sweep no less. Oh well, at least you can watch the train at Minute Maid Park, although not much of the time. You can certainly find walk-up tickets at any home game, and the Astros don't draw much on the road.
Okay: my favorite president is Jimmy Carter, and history may yet prove how important he was, and is.
Here comes the wrap-up show. I'll see you on the radio.

It's the middle of July in Kansas and the weather is hot. It's supposed to be hot in the middle of July in Kansas. As Walt Bodine (Kansas City radio talk show host) would say, "The weather is something everybody talks about, but nobody can do a darn thing about it."
On the show today are a couple of quotes from Willie Nelson:
"The world would be a much nicer place if everyone took two years of music lessons."
"A bar (barre) chord is any chord that you learn in a bar." (reference guitar)
We are past the midway point in the baseball season, and the long grind into fall, and playoff baseball commences. Remember, it's the Red Sox and the Pirates in this year's World Series. Take that prediction to the bank.
Kate Middleton will have a baby boy on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Okay, it's my second prediction, as I missed last Saturday with my first prediction. I also said the baby would be a girl.
Well, as they say on the wrap up shows, it's time to wrap it up. Remember, the best commercial endorsement comes to us from Sesame Street, which is, "Today's show was brought to you by the number five and the letter G."

Stuff
When I was a small boy, my Dad told me that if you talk too much, you would eventually run out of words, and you wouldn't be able to speak any more forever. Now that I am fifty six years old, I sometimes wonder if he might have been right. Not that I have a lot to say, but I'd still want to order pancakes from a drive-thru when I am in my seventies.
There are a lot of blogs out there that give you advice on health and living. I have some, so here goes:
When you think of natural foods, think of natural disasters.
A world without chocolate is a world of darkness and gloom.
Never eat anything bigger than your head.
If it's half the calories, eat twice as much.
Why is everyone so anti-oxidants?
Were free radicals ever in prison?
These things I know: I can still not hit a curve ball. Major ninth chords on the guitar are a gift from God. (except for the wonderful E minor 9th chord.) If you push something hard enough, it will fall over. Alarm clocks should be eradicated, and afternoon naps are a gift from God. Well that's about it, except, the World Series for 2013 will be the Red Sox and the Pirates.
Until next time, pleasant reading.
